Learning From Experts

The blessing I enjoy about homeschooling is not only having the control of the lessons and training I can add to the core subjects we have in our curriculum but also my homeschoolers get the opportunity to learn from friends who are experts in their own fields of work.

Recently, I invited a friend, Teacher Glenda, who is a veteran in media production (as a DJ, rapper, actress, dubber, and acting coach) to come and spend a day with us to help build the confidence of our homeschoolers in public speaking. Teacher Glenda's passion is to help the youth discover their talents and put them in good use.

The acting workshop and exercises were such fun. I had a blast taking photos and videos of our homeschoolers (and parents) who were so ready to learn from the expert.

Teacher Glenda was so good with her craft. She caught the homeschoolers' 100% attention and got them hooked the whole time.

There was no chance to let shyness rule and take over. Everybody got the opportunity to speak out, act out and just had fun.

Thank you, Teacher Glenda, for sharing your gifts and talents, and for helping bring out the best of our homeschoolers' personalities.

Learning Financial Management at Early Age

We are reviving our Merit Store, and it's even bigger!

Our Merit Store had helped me motivate my homeschoolers in completing their daily goals. Their scores increased and they became more conscious in following rules and instructions.

When we moved houses and then had made adjustments to our homeschool set-up, the merit store was put aside. But now, we have decided to bring it back  and use it not only as a motivational tool but also to teach our homeschoolers banking system and principles. It's never too early to teach our young children principles on financial management such as saving more, spending less, and keeping good credit score rating. They'll know better how to use (or not to use) credit cards, and be wise in using CashMoneyLife when they grow up.

I blogged about our Merit Store before but I will be posting more on this once our new Merit Store is open.
